Upcoming event - BORDER WAR 4

Yes,the Czechs are at it again...only this time will be an airsoft event on steroids,if one is to believe the rumors.Air assault,Javelin vehicles,blackops in full (dis)array on the ground,more than 700+ participants,and so forth.

I am looking forth to this one.Been impressed last year,don't see why the Czechs cannot reiterate the wonder again.Methinks they will.

A very good location and a great opportunity to almost have my lungs pried out from me ,due to exhaustion and effort.Nonetheless,a good sporting event.

Location - near the city of Botosani,NE of Romania,near the Ukrainian border.

OVERLOAD 2011 - Sibiu

And then was Operation "Overload 2011" edition,took place in a former Communist military compound near Sibiu (Mirsa,for those of you in the knowing).

Very good terrain,however the vegetation growth made some infiltration missions quite "milsim",if I am allowed to say this.Nonetheless,by and large,a good game,a good weekend spent with my team into the bossom of wild nature.

I managed to acquire a very beautiful replica of a leather holster designed for Mauser C96 ,regular size.A tad dearer than the "Bolo" type,but this is exactly what the doctor's ordered :-).

Russian War films

These are but a few of the best Russian movies of WW2.Mainly filmed during the Communist regime (pre-1991),they miss nothing of the typical "Motherland and Stalin" attitude to the war.

Brestkaya Kreposti

Just had a glimpse of this excellent Russian film a few days ago,while in Belarus.It is the story of the Brest Fortress,stormed by the German troops in the early hours of the 22nd of June,1941.

Excellent movie,very well made and actually extremelly accurate,in my opinion.Not just the actual facts,but it misses the whole communist mumbo-jumbo that goes usually with Russian WWII film propaganda.Besides,the story line is accounted to a real survivor of the siege,16 years old at the time.

The fierce combat scenes and ireality of the carnage is hard-hitting the eye of the viewer.It makes you understand somehow the hate that later drove the Red Army in creating the havoc which it did in Germany.In short,this film is worth viewing by those who wish to get a view of what hapenned in the first WW2 days in Russia,Barbarossa plan and all.
